1972 - Machine Laid Seal Street Maintenance Program July 27, 1972
MESSAGE:
- This office respectfully submits and recommends the attached list of streets to be
sealed with a 3/4-inch Machine Laid Overlay in the 1972 preventive maintenance pro9ram.
The Machine Laid Seal is recommended for the first maintenance seal on all of our
streets that were originally constructed of a 6-inch rock base and a 2-inch asphalt
surface course.
We are looking for a two-fold benefit in the use of Machine Laid Seal on these streets.
In addition to restoring the surface and sealing the surface from moisture absorption,
which is the purpose of chip or slurry seal, we are adding structural strength to the
original pavement which will increase its life span.
We would suggest a letting date of August 14, 1972.
