8.3 Deny Vac Leavenworth AddCITY OF SALINA REQUEST FOR COMMISSION ACTION DATE 11/08/82 AGENDA SECTION: NO. 8 Administration ITEM NO. 3 iOR I G I NAT I NG DEPAR~lqENT: Engineering ! IBY: Dean Boyer TIME 4:00 P.M. APPROVED FOR AGENDA: Petition No. 3841, filed by Gordon L. Horst, BRC Bearing Company, 121 North Broadway Blvd., for the vacation of the alley behind Lots 1 and 2, Block 2, Leavenworth Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas. Two of the three public utility companies, Kansas Power & Light Co. and Salina Cable Television Service, indicate they have facilities in the above alley. The petitioner is currently in the process of expanding bis parking and/or storage area adjacent to the platted alley. If the alley were to be vacated, the vacated alley would be used as a part of this expansion project. The above described alley is located adjacent to the east bank of Dry Creek. This section of Dry Creek provides an open channel for our storm sewer system between Walnut Street and Euclid Avenue. The alley provides direct access for maintenance purposes to this section of Dry Creek. Our department would, therefore, recommend the request for vacation of the above described alley be denied in order to assure the City access control to Dry Creek for maintenance purposes. The petitioner could use the alley, however, to gain more convenient access to his parking and/or storage lot and as maneuvering space.
