Special law enforcement trust fund report.
BACKGROUND;
Pursuant to K.S.A. 60-4117 (d) (2), each Kansas law enforcement agency is charged with the
responsibility to submit annually its special law enforcement trust fund report to the governing body
that has budgetary authority over such agency.
The report must specify for such period the following:
The type and approximate value of t he forfeited property received.
The amount of any forfeiture proceeds received.
How any of those proceeds were expended.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office administers the drug forfeiture account for the multi-jurisdictional
I135/I70 Drug Task Force. The majority of funds realized from forfeiture activity in Salina and Saline
County are deposited into this account. Pursuant to the aforementioned statute, the Saline County
Sheriff is charged with statutory responsibility for submitting a similar report to the Saline County
Commission.
FISCAL NOTE:
A total of $18,132.00 was expended in account #290001.000 during calendar year 2011 for the
purchase of K9 Cain in the amount of $8,500 and K9 Kurt in the am ount of $9,632. Interest in the
amount of $36.67 was accrued leaving an account balance of $2,855.29 on 12/31/2011.
