On September 21, 1982, the Salina City Planning Commission conducted
a public hearing on Application #PDD82-2 as described above. At that
time, considerable discussion occurred regarding the desirability of
this property developing commercially, the location of a proposed tem-
porary ponding area, the associated fencing, the traffic which could
be generated in relation to the proposed access points and the capaci-
ties of both S. Ohio and E. Cloud, and the amount of existing commer-
cially zoned property in the vicinity.
At the conclusion of the discussion, a motion was approved by a vote
of six in favor and two opposed (6-2) to recommend that this applica-
tion be denied.
In order to follow the Planning Commission's recommendation, a motion
to deny the application is required today. Should you desire to approve
the application, you must refer the application back to the Planning
Commission along with a statement specifying your basis for disapprov-
ing their recommendation.
