~*HEREAS: The first full week of May has, since 1915, been set aside as
the national week acknowledging our reoponsibility for the care and protection of
animals, and
WHEREAS: we recognize our responsibility for ~ise stewardship of our
environment, including the protection of those creatures with whom we share this
Earth, and
WHEREASI the Saline County Humane Association is visiting city schools
this week with programs aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and concern
for wildlife among young Salina citizens,
NOW, THEREFORE: I, Keith Duckers, as Mayor of the City of Salina, do
proclaim the week of May 2-8, 1982, as "Be Kind to Animals Week."
