Authorization for the City Manager to install flashing warning lights
with a 20 MPH speed zone at Schilling and Royal.
Attached is a recommendation from the School Safety Committee. As
you know, this is a consequence of the opening of the Schilling School.
We would install these lights with the City Traffic Control crew and
the estimated cost is about $1,500. The lights would be similar to
those on Ohio at Ellsworth Street.

Dear Mr. Nye:
The School Safety Committee met on September 29, 1981 to discuss
the intersection of Schilling Road and Royal Drive. A motion was
passed (5-1) to recommend the installation of yellow flashing
warning lights in addition to the 20 M.P.H. school zone signs at
the intersection of Schilling Road and Royal Drive.
It was also recommended to evaluate the crossing protection at
Ohio Street - Ellsworth Avenue and Schilling Road - Royal Drive
in the spring of 1982 to determine the effectiveness of these
crossing protections.
Sincerely,
School Safety Committee
