Citizen's Public Hearing -- Proposed South Salina Fire Station
CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE
On July 15, 1981, at 7:30 P.M., a public hearing was held at the First
National Bank & Trust Company's Handi-Bank located at the Mid-State Mall in South
Salina. Letters addressing this meeting were hand-carried to residents and pro-
perty owners within 250 feet of the proposed Key and Belmont location, and it
was advertised in the Salina Journal and Shopper's Guide (copy attached}.
There were thirty-one people present--most of them from the South
Salina area. Representatives from KINA Radio, the Salina Journal, Commissioner
Roth, and three persons from the Citizens' Advisory Committee were among those
who attended. A complete list of persons in attendance is attached.
The fire department gave essentially th6 same presentation as was given
to the City Commission and to the Citizens' Advisory Sub-committee. At the end
of the presentation, questions were entertained. Little or no negative feelings
were expressed about the location. Most questions were informational. The only
main concern expressed was the possible appearance of the proposed station. Un-
fortunately, this question could not be answered decisively at this stage of
planning.
