Consideration of contract for Sanitary Sewer Manhole Reconstruction, Project No. 03-1386.
BACKGROUND
This project involves the application of a % " thick fiber reinforced cementitious liner to the interior of
fourteen (14) sanitary sewer manholes. The monolithic liner eliminates infiltration, offers corrosion
protection against chemicals, repairs minor voids and restores structural integrity to the manhole.
Reconstruction work will include the cleaning of the manhole walls with high pressure water;
patching unsound areas; and the spray application of the acid resistant monolithic liner. The
manholes are located in high corrosion areas along the Southeast Interceptor Sanitary Sewer.
Bids were received for this project on Tuesday, March 25, 2003.

Midlands Contracting, Inc. submitted a proposal that fully complies with the project specifications.
This firm performed similar projects for various municipalities and industries and the quality of their
workmanship was reported as being excellent.
Funding for this project was included in the 2003 Wastewater System Enhancements budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission award the contract for the Sanitary Sewer Manhole
Reconstruction Project No. 03-1386, to Midlands Contracting Inc., Kearney, NE, in the amount of
$45,865.
