Resolution 03- !!i924 , authorizing a change order with F&H Insulation for Phase 2 asbestos abatement
services for the Police Department Building and current Municipal Court facility in the amount of $5,925.
Background:
On March 17'h the City Commission authorized a contract with F&H Insulation in the amount of $36,558
for asbestos abatement services in the Police Department Building and existing Municipal Court. This
contract was for abatement services where interior remodeling was required as a result of the attachment
of the new Municipal Court building and the re-use of existing Municipal Court office and court space by
the Police Department.
Staff mentioned at that time that a second phase of work would be needed in the immediate future. We
have obtained a cost proposal in the amount of $5,925 for the second phase of this work, which is an
estimated 2,000 square feet of floor and 100 square feet of ceiling. This would bring the total asbestos
abatement cost for this project to $42,483. Additional abatement is not anticipated for this project,
though future abatement will still be needed in other building locations for future projects that involve
disturbing the floors or ceiling.
Phase 1 work is complete. Staff is very happy with the quality of work provided. As with Phase 1, the cost
of Phase 2 work will be funded from the General Fund - Building and Facilities Program.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of Resolution 03-5924 , authorizing a change order with F&H Insulation for
Phase 2 asbestos abatement services for the Police Department Building and current Municipal Court
facility in the amount of $5,925.
