Authorization agreement for design engineering services with Bucher, Willis & Ratliff for sanitary
sewer improvements serving property near the 1-135 & Water Well Road interchange.
BACKGROUND:
The design services to be furnished by Bucher, Willis & Ratliff include all necessary field surveys;
preparation of preliminary and construction drawings; supplemental specifications; obtain regulatory
approvals; and preparation of a cost estimate. All of these services would be completed by August
1,2003.
The fee schedule includes both an estimated cost and fixed fee. The estimated cost of $20,391.00,
based on projected direct labor, reimbursable expenses, overhead, and other costs incurred by
Bucher, Willis & Ratliff to provide the engineering services outlined in the agreement, will vary but
the fixed fee of $3,023.00 shall be exactly the amount stated in the agreement.
We have reviewed the agreement and find the scope of services to be provided will design a
sanitary sewer system which will facilitate orderly development in the vicinity of the 1-135 and Water
Well Road interchange. The labor and miscellaneous costs associated with each design task was
analyzed and the estimated fee to perform each of the above design serves appears reasonable.
Funding for this project will be through the capital cost recovery method or by special assessments
chargeable to a benefit district.
RECOMMENDATION:
Consider Resolution 03-5926 authorizing the Mayor to sign the attached engineering agreement with
Bucher, Willis & Ratliff authorizing the above sanitary sewer design services in an amount not to
exceed $23,414.
