E-MAIL dennis.kissinger@salina.org eM MEMORANDUM - 00-22 TO: FROM: DATE: RE: City Commission V Dennis Kissinger~ r--- September 6, 2000 Meeting Dates/Agenda Planning We have a few "unusual" meeting/agenda issues likely over the next 60 days. I want to share those with you so you can work on your own schedules and/or let me know if these will not work for you. 1. Monday. September 18 - At this point, there are no regular agenda items scheduled, and several of us will be out of town. Mike Morgan will be here as Acting City Manager. However, rather than canceling the meeting, in working with the Mayor, we have two specific things that may be best scheduled for the Commission as part of a "Study Session only" that day, beginning at 3:30 p.m. (a) Rescheduled CommissionlTask Force Meeting. From 3:30 p.m. to 4: 15 p.m., Mike will provide status reports and answer questions regarding our improvement efforts. (b) From 4:15 p.m. to approximately 6:00 p.m., we suggest the Commission participate in viewing a video and holding some discussion as a portion of our City's efforts in the National League of Cities "Undoing Racism" initiative. We will have more on that initiative at this Monday's (September 11) Study Session. Let's discuss then if this plan will work. 2. Monday. October 9 - Commission meeting canceled due to conflict with League of Kansas Municipalities meeting in Topeka. Three Commissioners and some staff are attending. Memorandum 00-22 Page 2 3. Monday. October 30 - This is a 5th Monday. However, I would like to request you consider a special Study Session at either 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. that day. We are working on a significant potential economic development project which will require some City Commission action in mid-November. The company involved is interested in conducting a facility tour and briefing of the Commission prior to that action. I suggested Monday, October 30th rather than trying to fit this elsewhere into everyone's schedule. I know some folks schedule travel or other personal business around the "5th Monday" weekends. It's pretty important that we get a good turnout for this tour/briefing. Please let me know if this plan and tentative schedule of a "Special Study Session" will not work for you. Please give me a call if you have any questions or concerns or would like to discuss these meeting planning items further. Thanks. See you Monday. cc: Mike Morgan Jason Gage Judy Long Greg Bengtson
