AGENDA: 8 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT x~. P~g Division t NO. 2 BY: /x, BY: / RE: Application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for fiscal year 1983. On Wednesday, March 23, 1983, the Department of Planning and Community Development held a public hearing to gain citizen comments and to determine the need to apply for CDBG funds. Only three persons attended this meeting, but funds were requested for the following: 1. Enlargement of the kitchen at the Leisure Years Center. This would enable the Center to increase the number of meals that it serves on the premises and transports to other sites in the county. The Area Agency on Aging will supply the fixtures for the expanded kitchen. The Leisure Years Center is also requesting funds for other remodeling of the first floor that will be needed once the kitchen is expanded. The total project is estimated to cost approximately $60,000. (CDBG funds requested : $30,000) 2. Improving accessibility for the handicapped in the Post Office Building by installing an elevator and ramp, in the event that the City buys the building for use as a new museum. These items would assure accessi- bility to those using the building. (CDBG funds requested = $38,400) 3. Continuation of the housing rehabilitation, weatherization, and emergency repair programs. These programs were financed by CDBG funds for fiscal year 1982 and are presently in operation.
