OASIS I, Saline County Services and Foster Care to runaway youth
is committed to reuniting families and dealing with the causes of
running away; and
Some one million young people, ages 10-17, run away from home
annually in America; one-half million of whom are "push-outs"
by their parents; and
Salina and. Saline County has strategically had the foresight and
cooperation of public agencies, schools, churches, the courts,
local police, sherriff, and highway patrol to set in motion a
process to shelter and counsel these troubled youth and their
parents in support of foster care services through OASIS I,
I John F. Burgess, Mayor of Salina, do hereby proclaim the entire
month of December, 1983, as
RUNAWAY PREVENTION AND F~MILY LIFE MONTH
in Salina.
