in recognition of a signed resolution by President Ronald
Reagan which designates September 22 as American Business
Women's Day, this day has been set aside by the Board of
Directors of the American Business Women's Association,
founded September 22, 1949, to recognize the tremendous
input women have made, and are making in the business
world; knd
WHEREAS,
the OBJECTIVE of this association shall be to promote the
professional, educational, cultural, and social advancement
of business women; and
Chapter sponsored scholarships and the Stephen Bufton Memorial
Educational Fund are evidence of ABWA members' belief that
education is the key to helping women help themselves to
advance in the business world; and
today's business woman is finding new horizons and expanded
opportunities, she is in the forefront, blazing new .trails
for herself, and paving the way for her followers~
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John F. Burgess, Mayor of the City of Salina, Kansas,
do hereby proclaim September 22, 1983, as American Business
Women's Day.
