NOW THEREFORE:
To our fellow citizens,
The American Legion and the American
Legion Auxiliary adopted the Memorial
Poppy as its Memorial Flower in 1919, and
By wearing the Poppy, Americans everywhere,
and especially in this City of ~a&ina, both
pay tribute to those war dead, and aiC t~e
living by assistance to Veterans and their
families in time of need, and
The Poppy Day Program contributions, are
used solely for programs of Child Welfare,
and Rehabilitation in our community ant state,
I, John Burgess, Mayor of the City of Saiina,
co hereby proclaim t~e month of May 1983 as
POPPY MONTH, and May 21, 1983 as PUPPY DAZ
in our city, and I urge all citizens of our
city to Join wlt~ me in wearing the Memorial
Flower, as together we remembe~ ~he sacrifices
of so many in defense of our ~'reedom.
