As you may recall, last spring a hearing w cit suggestions for a
possible application to the Kansas Department of Economic Development (KDED) for
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Many suggestions were received
and several were included in an application for $439,360 in a Community
Improvement Project, which was subsequently denied. One project was withheld from
inclusion on that application as it was not related to the rest. You were
informed on May 18, 1984 that it was our intention to include the request from the
Occupational Center of Central Kansas (OCCK) for funds to renovate their Salina
facility under an Economic Development Project grant application, which had a
different processing cycle than did the Community Improvement Project applications.
As a result, we have prepared a draft CDBG application for $103,680 in grant funds
to be matched by $25,920 in funds provided by OCCK.
A public hearing has been scheduled before the City Commission for today. You are
asked to amend the attached application as you see fit, approve it for submission
to the state, and adopt the attached resolution.
