ITEM: Ordinance No. 10-10548
Second reading Ordinance No. 10-10548 rezoning a 150 acre tract of land at the northeast corner of
Schilling Road and Ohio Street from Saline County AG (Agricultural) to R(Single-Family Residential), R-
1 (Single-Family Residential), R-2.5 (Multi-Family Residential), PC-2 (Planned Neighborhood Shopping)
and PC-5 (Planned Service Commercial).
BACKGROUND:
Ordinance No.1 0-1 0548 was passed on first reading on May 24, 2010 subject to final plat approval
along with first reading of an ordinance annexing the proposed Stone Lake Addition into the city. The
developer chose to final plat only 100 acres in the first phase of Stone Lake leaving 50 acres east and
southeast of the Sandpit Lake unplatted at this time. The ordinance approved on first reading has
been modified to retain Agricultural zoning on the unplatted portion until such time as it is platted into
lots and blocks. Final action on this rezoning request was postponed by the Commission on August
16, 2010 to allow five (5) recently discovered abandoned oil wells on the property to be located and
mapped. That field work is complete, and as a result of the location of one of the wells, a residential
building lot in Block 4 was eliminated. The attached ordinance has been modified to reflect that.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. 10-10548 establishing a mixed residential and planned commercial zoning
district for the Stone Lake Addition on second reading.
