SPECIFICATIONS
1. TELESCOPE
*6.7 inches (170 mm) achromatic; internal focusing with straight cut
rack and pinion. Erect image; reversible in both directions and
balanced on axis. 30 X magnification resolving to 3 seconds of arc.
Minimum focus 4 1/4 feet (1.3 m).
Objective effective aperture 1.6 inches (40 mm). Field of view 1
degree 30 minutes (26 feet at 1000 feet). Bronze telescope axis with
cylindrical bearings. All lens surfaces are coated.
2. RETICLE
Glass, etched (type D) stadia ratio 1:100. Constant is 0.
3. LEVELS
Telescope -2.25 inches with sensitivity 40 seconds per 2 mm.
Plate -1.5 inches with sensitivity 90 seconds per 2 mm.
Instrument Base -circular vial for rough leveling with sensitivity 90
seconds per 2 mm.
4. STANDARDS
Special hardened alloy.
5. VERTICAL CIRCLE
2.68 -inch (68 mm) diameter with graduations on glass divided to 30
minutes. Numbered in quadrants. Glass vernier direct coincidence
reading to 1 minute is backlighted through frosted glass and viewed
through mounted magnifier to provide clear and accurate reading.
6. HORIZONTAL CIRCLE
4.33 -inch (110 mm) diameter with graduations on glass divided to 20
minutes. Double numbered 0-360 and 360-0 with figures inclined in
direction of increase. Two glass verniers direct coincidence reading
to 20 seconds. Verniers are read through permanently attached 7 X
prismatic magnifiers. Illumination through frosted glass'to provide
utmost definition and accuracy. •Circle may be positioned to any
desired angle by means of an external ring.
7. CENTER
Hardened steel cylindrical centers with tapered thrust bearings, to
insure centering of vertical spindle.
8. OPTICAL PLUMMET
2 X magnification with circle target reticle. Located in the
alidade so that it rotates with the instrument. Erect image. Adjust-
able objective focus by push-pull slide motion. Focusing range 1.5
feet to 50 feet (0.5 to 15 meters).
9. INSTRUMENT BASE
Three replaceable leveling screws with dust -protected covers. Design
of leveling head allows 1 1/2 inch movement on tripod head with clamp
below. Standard 5/8 x 11 thread base plate.
10. EQUIPMENT
Hermetically sealed case complete with back packing straps, plumb bob,
trough compass, adjusting pins, dust brush, screwdriver, instruction
book and plastic rain hood.
