Re: Salina Holiday Inn
1616 W. Crawford
Salina, Kansas 67401
Dear Mr. Hoff:
This letter is written on behalf of Omaha Hotel, Inc. to
formally request the assistance of the City of Salina, Kansas
relative to resolving the discrepancy in locating the entrance
driveways on property known as 1616 W. Crawford, Salina,
Kansas. As I advised you earlier, the east driveway varies
slightly from the platted access on the plat of the addition.
The west driveway is off location substantially.
I discussed this matter with Mr. Keith Rawlings on Tuesday,
June 24, 1986. He stated that he did not believe a formal
variance would be required to correct this situation, and
he felt the matter should be presented to the City Commission
to revise the access restriction to conform with the present
access areas.
We desire to retain the platted but unused access area for
possible future expansion of this hotel facility.
I sincerely appreciate your
situation.

Dear Mr. Hoff:
Pursuant to my telephone conversation this date I am forwarding
a copy of the As -Built Plan and Property Description for the
Salina Holiday Inn site prepared by Bucher, Willis & Ratliff.
The restricted access is shown on the plat. As you can see
the access points do not quite line up on the east and the
west one is off substantially.
I do not know how or why this came into being and our first
knowledge of the problem surfaced when the As -Built Plan was
completed June 18, 1986.
Would you please advise what is necessary to correct this
irregularity.
Thank you for your help and assistance.
Very truly yours,

Re: Holiday Inn Site
Salina, Kansas
Dear Mr. Johnson:
Enclosed are the following for the Salina Holiday Inn project:
1. Two prints of the revised pavement contours for the parking lot.
These contours include the additional area north of the Super 8
parking lot and revised contours of the initial parking lot area
as a result of the storm sewer system required within the easement
to Old Dry Creek.
2. Two prints of the plans for the storm sewer system noted above.
3. One copy of the drainage computations and the earthwork computa-
tions.
One set of plans and the drainage computations were hand delivered
this date to Mr. Don Hoff, Assistant City Engineer, to expedite his review
of the storm sewer system. He will try and complete the review within a
couple of days.
Please contact us if you have questions or comments on the enclosed.
We will advise you of the results of Mr. Hoff's review and will forward the
originals at that time.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Lamfers:
DONALD E. HOFF. P. E.
ASST. CITY ENGINEER
D. W. BASSETT
TRAFFIC ENGINEER
We have completed our review of the proposed off-site storm sewer
system for the above referenced site. Approval is hereby granted to con-
struct the 36" R.C.P. system from Sta. 9+97 (N.E. corner of site) to Sta.
18+48 (end of concrete headwall) and other off-site drainage improvements
subject to the following conditions:
(1) All pavement removal and replacement on Beverly Drive will
be in accordance with our standard specifications.
(2) All concrete work (inlets, manhole, headwall, etc.) must
be constructed in accordance with our standard specifications.
(3) The storm sewer shall be installed in accordance with our
standard specifications.
(4) The regrading of all existing drainage swales along the east
property line of the Holiday Inn site and along the 36" R.C.P.
storm sewer route shall be accomplished with care to prevent
damage to trees, shrubs, and other landscaping improvements
located within the various utility easements.
(5) Any alternate materials or construction methods proposed by
the Contractor or others must be approved by our department.
MEMBER ... KANSAS LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES - NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES
Mr. G. Harold Lamfers, P.E. May 23, 1985
Page 2
(6) The Contractor will be responsible for obtaining all
excavation and construction permits for this project.
(7) All of these required drainage facilities must be
constructed or installed prior to the removal of the
existing stormwater detention system (collection ditches,
holding pond, pumps, etc.) to protect the adjacent
property.
(8) The Contractor selected to perform these drainage
improvements must be made aware of the value of a
good public relation effort to appease the adjacent
property owners during the construction phase.
If you have any questions concerning the above requirements,
please contact me.

Re: Holiday Inn Site
Salina, Kansas
Dear Mr. Johnson:
Review comments for the plans submitted May 20, 1985, were received
this date. A copy of Mr. Don Hoff's letter is enclosed.
Reproducibles of the plan sheets are also enclosed. They are essen-
tially identical to those submitted on May 20th except as follows:
1. Curbs at the East and South sides of the parking area North of the
Super 8 Motel have been removed as per your earlier request.
2. Curb height at the Northeast corner of the parking area has been
increased to 0.6 feet to contain the 25 -year runoff as we dis-
cussed this date.
3. Additional general notes have been added to reflect the comments
in Mr. Hoff's letter.
We believe this completes our work in accordance with the Agreement
dated May 13, 1985. Please contact us if you have questions or comments on
the enclosed.
A set of prints of the revised plans are being submitted to Mr. Hoff
for the City's reference.
We are available to serve you in the construction surveys or any other
capacity you may desire.
