Dear Mr. Olson:
I am writing you in regard to the Salina.American Community Center,
Inc., located on North Front Street in Salina. As you know, the
Center is in the Urban Renewal Area and it is imperative that we
find a temporary location as soon as possible. At our most recent
meeting of the Center's Executive Board, it was voted to continue
the services of the Center in a different location.
The Committee feels it is necessary to move quickly in this regard
as Mrs. Cecil Camarena, Assistant Director, who lives adjacent to
the Center, will be moving from the Urban Renewal Area within ten
days. We feel that the Center will be immediately vandalized as
soon as Mrs. Camarena moves, as other vacated houses have been in
the Urban Renewal Area.
Miss Aganentha Satz and W. W. Storey of the Executive Board visited
the South Park Cottage. They feel that this structure will be
adequate for temporary quarters, in order to continue the services
of the Center. It is hoped that, in the not -too -distant future, a
permanent structure can be considered in the vicinity of Centennial
Park, where we feel that more people can be reached. It is also
hoped that a merger could be effected. and other groups could serve
from a permanent structure in the area of Centennial Park.
The people displaced in the Urban Renewal Area have been.moved to
all parts of Salina. We, therefore, would like the use of the -South
Park Cottage on a temporary, rent-free basis, until a permanent'site
for the relocation of the Center has been established.

Yours very truly,
Dr. Charles Marsh `
Chairman, Executive Board
