4.2 Minority Enterprise Develop PROCLAMATION

The City of Salina, Kansas
WHEREAS,
The greatest strength of our economic system is the
opportunity it affords every American, regardless of
their race, color, sex or national origin; and
WHEREAS,
The minority business community in the City of Salina
is a vital element in the City's economic growth; and
WHEREAS,
The City of Salina strongly encourages the continued
economic development of minority business; and
WHEREAS,
If minority business in tile City of Salina is to
continue to grow we must make available business
opportunity and access to capital through our finan-
cial institutions; and
WHEREAS,
The President of the United States has designated
October 6 through October 12, 1985, as Minority
Enterprises Development Week, in recognition of
minority enterprises across the country,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Merle A. Hodges, Mayor of the City of Salina,
Kansas, do hereby proclaim the week of October 6
through October 12, 1985, as
MINORITY ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT WEEK
in Salina and urge all citizens to join in this
observance and to recognize the contributions of
minority businesses to the prosperity of our City.
