Authorize the repair of High Service Pump No. 202 at the Water Treatment Plant, Project No. 10-2839.
BACKGROUND:
The Water Treatment Plant utilizes seven (7) hi gh service pumps to de liver water from two
underground clear wells (storage tanks) to the water distribution syst em for consumer use. These
clear wells allow the Water Treatment Plant to run at a constant rate, while the demands of the water
distribution system vary. There are two (2) - 200 Horse Power (HP) pumps and five (5) - 250 HP
pumps. High Service Pump No. 202 (250 HP) has been in service since 1992, and requires a rebuild
due to normal wear. Quotations were solicited for t he removal, inspection, and reinstallation of the
high service pump.

Douglas Pump Service, Inc. was selected to pull the pump and take the pump to their shop to
disassemble, inspect, and provide a quote for materials and labor to rebuild the pump.
The cost for the materials and labor to rebuild t he pump is $17,828.75. The total cost to pull,
disassemble, inspect, rebuild and reinstall the pump is $24,418.75.
FISCAL NOTE:
A budget allocation of $117,000.00 for the Maintenance of Process Equipment is included in the 2010
Water Treatment Plant Operating Budget under line item 690-380-150-772.191, and currently has a
balance of $60,100.42. Funds are available for the repair of High Service Pump No. 202.
