Report on bids for Project #99-1166 Bill Burke Memorial Park Restroom.
Background:
The 1999 Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Program includes construction of a new
restroom for Bill Burke Memorial Park. Current restroom facilities are inadequate to handle the
numbers of park users or the year-round need. The improvements made to the ball diamonds in the
last several years have made the park attractive for large baseball and softball tournaments, and
additional features such as soccer fields, accessible playground, and jogging/walking trail have
created a year-round use facility.
Bids were received and opened Tuesday, April 6, 1999, as follows:

This contract addesses only the construction of the restroom building. Pump station and connection
to existing service will be bid separately. Current estimate of this portion of the project is $35,000.
Total project budget is $95,000 with $65,000 from the 1999 Special Parks fund and $30,000 from the
Buildings and Facilities budget. Project costs including architectural services is now projected to be
$111,500. If approved, additional funds from the Special Parks Fund will be used to complete the
project.
Recommendation:
It is staffs recommendation the City Commission award the contract for construction of a new year-
round restroom for Bill Burke Memorial Park, Project #99-1666 to Lancaster Construction, Salina, in
the amount of $69,970.00
