Consideration of contract for Sanitary Sewer Manhole Reconstruction, Project No. 99-1182.
BACKGROUND
This project involves the application of a 1/2" thick fiber reinforced cementitious liner to the interior of thirty-
one (31) sanitary sewer manholes. The monolithic liner eliminates infiltration, offers corrosion protection
against chemicals, repairs minor voids, and restores structural integrity to the manhole.
Reconstruction work will include the cleaning of the manhole walls with high pressure water; patching
unsound areas; and the spray application of the acid resistant monolithic liner. The manholes are located
in high infiltration/high corrosion areas.
One bid was received for this project on Tuesday, June 29, 1999:

Utility Maintenance Contractors, Inc. $58,410.00 60 days
Engineer's Estimate $73,250.00
Utility Maintenance Contractors, Inc. submitted a proposal that fully complies with the project
specifications. This firm performed similar projects for the Wastewater Division on several occasions and
the quality of their workmanship was excellent.
Funding for this project was included in the 1999 budget, Wastewater System Enhancements.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission award the contract for the Sanitary Sewer Manhole
Reconstruction, Project No. 99-1182, to Utility Maintenance Contractors, Inc., Wichita, Kansas, in the
amount of $58,410.00
