4.1 Catch The Sparkle WeekGIRL SCOUTS
PROCLAMATION
BE IT RESOLVED that the Salina City Commission declares the week of
June 15-21, 1986 to be "Catch the Sparkle Week".
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary in the
year 1987; and
WHEREAS, Central Kansas Council of Girl Scouts has been an important
element in the development of values in girls and young women in thirteen
county areas, which includes the City of Salina, Saline County in the
great State of Kansas;
WHEREAS, Central Kansas Council of Girl Scouts has in its jurisdiction the
geographic center of the United States to send forth the "sparkle" of the
Diamond Anniversary;
WHEREAS, in addition to the Day Camps, Brownie Play Days, and many other
activities planned for the Girl Scout Council, the major festivity will
be "Catch the Sparkle". The Jamboree will be held near the City of Salina.
Girl and adult volunteers from Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Missouri
shall participate in this learning experience. Over 300 girls and support
personnel will attend this week-long activity. There are numerous activ-
ities planned for each day. In addition, several dignitaries will attend.
This includes the National President of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.,
Mrs. Betty Pilsbury.
BE IT RESOLVED that I, Joseph M. Ritter, Mayor of the City of Salina, Kansas,
do hereby proclaim the week of June 15-21, 1986 to be "Catch the Sparkle
Week".
