A resolution authorizing and providing for the construction of improvements to certain existing
buildings in the City of Salina Kansas, and providing for the payment of the costs thereof.
BACKGROUND:
In a companion item, a contract for architectural and design services for improvements to Fire Station
# 1 will be considered. This action authorizes the project budget and financing at a total of
$1,787,000, which includes the architectural and design services.
FISCAL NOTE:
This project was included as a 2009 project in the 2008 - 2012 Capital Improvement Plan at an
estimated cost of $1,300,000, to be financed by bonds issued in 2010. Project timing, however, will
result delaying the financial impact of the project by one year.
Financing will be implemented through the issuance of General Obligation bonds, payable over a 15
year period. We anticipate that the project will be initially financed through a temporary note in 2010,
which will then be rolled into the long term bond issue in 2011. Annual payments are anticipated to be
on the order of $160,000, the equivalent of 4/1Oths of a mill at today's valuation, starting in budget
year 2012.
