This is a companion to Charter Ordinance 25, which calls for consideration of the proposition at a referendum election on February 28, 1989. COMMISSION ACTION MOTION BY SECOND BY TO: (Published in The Salina Journal December 23, 1988) ORDINANCE NUMBER 88-9297 AN ORDINANCE CALLING AN ELECTION FOR SUBMISSION OF CHARTER ORDINANCE NUMBER 25 TO A REFERENDUM. BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. It being the desire of the City Commission to submit Charter Ordinance Number 25 to a referendum without petition pursuant to Article 12, Section 5 of the Kansas Constitution, there is hereby called an election for the purpose of submitting Charter Ordinance Number 25 to a referendum vote of the electors of the City to take place on February 28, 1989, as a part of the City-School Board Primary Election. If such City-School Board ~,Primary £1ection is not otherwise necessary, the referendum vote on Charter Ordinance Number 25 shall take place on April 4, 1988, as a part of the City-Schoo~ Board General Election. Section 2. The election called in Section 1 shall be conducted as an e~ection for officers and shall Be conducted by the County Clerk. Section 3. The proposition for consideration at the referendum election called in Section 1 shah be: "Shall Charter Ordinance Number 25 entitled 'A Charter Ordinance exempting the City of Satina, Kansas, from the provisions of K.S.A. 13-1024a and providing substitute and additional provisions of the same which relate to general improvements and the issuance of bonds for the purpose of paying for said improvements' take effect?" Section' 4. This ordinance shall be published once each week for three consecutive weeks in the official city newspaper.
