An ordinance adding Section 38-49 to Article III of Chapter 38, authorizing the City Manager to
temporarily designate and reserve parking places on public streets within the corporate city limits of
Salina for persons with a disability.
BACKGROUND:
There are venues within the city, such as the Stiefel Theater, that rely on public street parking for
their patrons during events. While the number of parking stalls designated for persons with a
disability may normally be adequate, during special events, the need for such stalls increases. The
ordinance before you would provide the City Manager with authority to temporarily designate, mark
and reserve additional parking on public streets for persons with a disability.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve Ordinance No. 09-10498 on first reading.
