A resolution authorizing a concession agreement with Ray Ray's LLC for East Crawford Recreation
Area (ECRA).
BACKGROUND:
Since 1994, the City of Salina has contracted concession operations to civic clubs, organizations and
individuals. Concessionaires operate at Bill Burke Park, ECRA, Dean Evans Stadium and Kenwood
Pool under different agreements.
The current concessionaire for ECRA has notified us that they will not be able to operate concessions
this year. After interviewing possible concessionaires, Raymond Gawith, DBA Ray Ray's LLC, has
been selected for the ECRA operation. Mr. Gawith has agreed to operate concessions under all terms
of the previous agreement.
Highlights of the attached agreement:
1. Concession service to be provided for all games played, regardless of the sponsoring agency or
school.
2. Concession operation opens an hour prior to start of games to one-half hour after conclusion of
games.
3. City approval of merchandise and concession items sold and pricing.
4. Concessionaire will lock and unlock gates and press box, turn on and off field lights when
required.
5. One year agreement renewable annually.
6. Through contractual obligation, the only soft drink products to be sold will be those provided by
the Coco-Cola Bottling Company of Mid America.
7. This agreement includes both the concession stand located near diamonds # 1 and 2 and the
Dean Evans Concession.
FISCAL NOTE:
Ray Ray's LLC will pay $2,500 to the City of Salina annually for the right to operate concessions at
ECRA.
CONFORMANCE WITH THE STRATEGIC PLAN:
Goal #3 The City will provide the highest quality of services, consistent with governing body direction,
available resources and staff commitment to quality.
COMMISSION RECOMMENDED ACTION:
It is staff's recommendation the City Commission approve Resolution No. 09-6600 authorizing an
agreement between the City of Salina and Ray Ray's, LLC for operation of concessions at East
Crawford Recreation Area (ECRA).
