4.2 Just Say No Week JUST SAY NO WEEK PROCLAIWlATION
WHEREAS Kansas youth are our state's most precious resource;
WHEREAS these young people are growing up in a vastly complicated era which
includes the temptation and pressure to use illegal drugs;
WHEREAS youth themselves see drug abuse as the biggest problem they face;
WHEREAS alcohol and drug abuse is a threat to the state's quality of life and the hopes and dreams of our young people and their families;
WHEREAS special investments must be made so that our young people can build the
skills necessary to "say no" to alcohol and drugs;
WHEREAS Kansas youth are already contributing to drug abuse prevention by "saying no" to drugs and developing "Just Say No" Clubs;
WHEREAS youth in Kansas and across the nation will participate in "Just Say No"
Walks and other positive activities May 10-16 to symbolize their commitment to
a drug-free life;
WHEREAS every youth should be recognized and encouraged in their efforts to
resist peer pressure and in working tnward a drug-free Kansas;
