Award of contract for the 1990 Curb and Gutter and Concrete Pavement Repair
Project Number 90-819.
Background
In recent years, projects have been conducted to reconstruct curb and gutter
sections that are in disrepair throughout the city. The criteria for selection
has been all major arterial streets where the curbs were aesthetically
displeasing. This year, however, the Engineering and General Services
Departments are recommending that the criteria for repair be changed to curb
and gutter sections that are dysfunctional from the drainage standpoint. This
will include repairs on local, collector and arterial streets in all parts of
the city.
In addition to the curb and gutter program, several concrete streets are,
also, in need of repair. The General Services Department has accumulated a
list of concrete streets that require the most on-going maintenance which could
be avoided if particular sections of the streets were replaced. Those sections
range from 3' x 15' to 18' x 20' in size.
Three valid bids were received for this project on Tuesday, December 11, 1990

The Engineer's estimate for the project is $59,640.00.

The 1990 budget allocates $40,000 in gasoline tax funds for curb and gutter
reconstruction and $20,000 in gas tax funds for concrete street maintenance.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Commission award the contract for the 1990 Curb
and Gutter and Concrete Pavement Repair Project No. 90-819 to Wilson
Constructors, Inc. in the amount of $46,915.00.
