The following bids were received and opened by the City Clerk on 8/22/90: I. Di/An Controls Inc., Brockton, Mass Bid: $25,385.00 plus hotel and travel expenses 2. Tangent Associates Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, FL Bid: $26,075.00 " 3. Pacer Corporation., Spring, TX; Bothell, WA Bid: $36,900.00 4. Advanced Business Systems, Manhattan, KS Bid: $59,290.00 Our report' to you dated 8/6/90 set forth the advantages of such a system and the number of components. Funding for the system is budgeted in the City's 1990 CIP. Estimated cost was $33,000 with an anticipated pay back of approximately 3 years. Staff Recommendations We recommend approval o~ the $26,075 bid by Tangent Associates, Inc. Their bid meets all of our specifications. Additional%y we are convinced there is a distinct advantage in the fact that their hard- ware is tailored to the software. Tanget developed the software which is utilized by the low bidder,~ Di/An Controls Inc. There being only $690 between the two lowest bids, we feel the difference is justified. Some of the larger facilities that will soon have hardware include the New Orl'eans Superdome, Madison Square Garden and Chicago Stadium.
