4.3 Hunger Barrel Week PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS There are those citizens in Salina who cannot, without assistance,
meet their daily food needs, and
WHEREAS The citizens of Salina have contributed more than 24,000 items to the
Hunger Barrel Project since May 22, 1989, and
WHEREAS The following grocery companies have assisted in the collection of the
food items:
Ashtons (East and West)
Dillon Stores (all 3 stores)
Food 4 Less (2 stores)
Gibsons
WHEREAS The Hunger Barrel food has been distributed to the Emergency Aid/
Food Bank, Gospel Mission, and Salvation Army fortheir daily service
to the needy, and
WHEREAS The needs of the hungry in Salina still exist;
SO NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert E. Frank, Mayorofthe City of Salina, Kansas, do hereby
proclaim the week of May 21 through 28, 1990 as
"SALINA HUNGER BARREL WEEK"
and urge all citizens of Salina to participate by donating food items to the Hunger Barrels.
