Bids were received on March 15, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. for the construction of the
Ninth Street and Crawford Street intersection improvements (Project No.
89-796). The bids received are tabulated below:
(a) Wilson Constructors, Inc.: $586,256.00
(b) J. H. Shears' Sons, Inc.: 652,302.74
(c) Smoky Hill, Inc.: 769,148.25
The three (3) bids received were reviewed and found to be valid. The
engineer's estimate for this project was $632,242.50.
The scope of work includes the widening of Crawford Street between Tenth Street
and Highland Avenue and the widening of Ninth Street approximately 300 ft.
north and 300 ft. south of Crawford Street. In addition to the widening
improvements, this project includes major storm sewer construction and traffic
signal installation.
It is our recommendation, therefore, that the City Commission award the
contract for Project No. 89-796 (Ninth & Crawford Intersection) to Wilson
Constructors, Inc. who submitted the low bid of $586,256.00. Wilson
Constructors, Inc. indicated the construction would require 270 calendar days
after the "Notice to Proceed" is issued.
