From the action of the December 4, 1989 commission meeting
the bid date of. an Uninterruptible Power Supply System was
set for December 14, 1989. Bids were received on this date
and staff is making the recommendation for the acceptance of
one of the bids and purchase of an optional feature.
Bids were received from 3 vendors: B & W Electric in the
amount of $15,255, Telephone Services for $14,510, and Ash
Battery Systems for $12,722. B & W Electric and Telephone
Services are local vendors, Ash Battery Systems is located in
Shawnee Mission, Ks. Ash Battery Systems bid -listed the
freight as a separate amount and did not have it in their
total as did the others. They, have listed the estimated
freight to be $600.00. Another item listed optional, that is
recommended for purchase, is a complete start-up/checkout
service for $600.00, which will greatly aid in the
installation of the UPS. With the addition of the estimated
freight and the purchase of the start-up/checkout serviCe
will bring the price of the UPS 'to $13,322 and still maintain
Ash Battery Systems as low bidder. This does not include the
electrical installation, which will be contracted separately.
Request commission action to accept the Uninterruptible Power
Supply System bid from Ash Battery Systems in the amount of
$12,722 and to include the optional complete, start-up/
checkout service for $600.00.
