Change Order No. 3 for West Crawford Street Improvement Project No. 90-803.
Background
Project No. 90-803 involves street and storm drainage improvements on West
Crawford Street from 1-135 to Broadway. Construction began on July 15, 1990
and is scheduled for completion by August, 1991. The Contractor has made
substantial progress on the project while minimizing the effect on local
businesses and traffic congestion.
The commercial development on West Crawford in recent years has begun to
overburden the sanitary sewer collection system, especially from Viemont Avenue
(Holidome area) to Broadway Boulevard. As development continues in this area,
the capacity of the sanitary sewer system will be exceeded. To alleviate the
problem, we propose to install a pump station near Viemont Avenue and a sewer
force main leading to a pump station located in the Sunset Plaza area. To
reduce cost and disruption to businesses, it is suggested that the force main
be installed in the same trench as the West Crawford storm sewer line currently
under construction. The attached change order was negotiated with the
Contractor (Wilson Constructors) on the West Crawford project to provide for
installation of an 8" force main at this time. The pump station would be
purchased and installed when needed.
The 1991 budget allocates $400,000 in capital outlay funds from the Water and
Wastewater Department for projects of this nature.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Commission approve Change Order No. 3 on the
West Crawford Street Improvement Project No. 90-803 in the amount of $60,029.00.
