Concession agreement for Dean Evans Stadium
Background:
In 1994, the City of Salina entered into an agreement with the American Legion to operate the
concession stand at Dean Evans Stadium, located in the East Crawford Recreation Area. After six
years of providing this service, the Legion and their coordinator have given the City notice they are no
longer able to manage this concession operation.
The current concessionaire of the East Crawford Recreation Area north stand, Daniel Jones, has
agreed to manage the Evans location as well as his current operation. All terms of compensation,
responsibilities, and terms of the original agreement with the Legion are continued in the agreement
with Mr. Jones.
Highlights of the attached agreement:
1. Concession service to be provided for all games played, regardless of the sponsoring agency or
school.
2. Concession operation open one hour prior to start of games to one-half hour after conclusion of
games.
3. City approval of merchandise and concession items sold and pricing.
4. Concessionaire will lock and unlock gates and press box, turn on and off field lights when required.
5. Payment of $2,500 to the City of Salina annually for the right to operate.
6. One year agreement renewable annually.
7. Through contractual obligation, the only soft drink products to be sold will be those provided by the
Pepsi Cola Bottling Company.
Recommendation:
It is staff's recommendation the City Commission approve resolution 00-5570 authorizing an agreement
between the City of Salina and Daniel Jones for operation of concessions at Dean Evans Stadium.
