Award of contract for Street and Utility Improvements in Holmquist Estates and
Austin Subdivision, Project No. 92-859.
Background
The City Commission previously approved a project to construct water system
improvements in Holmquist Estates (Red Fox Lane) and street, water and sanitary
sewer improvements in Austin Subdivision. This project will provide much needed
fire protection and domestic water service to Holmquist Estates and will make
available 20 lots for single family residential development in Austin
Subdivision.
Bids were received for the project on Tuesday, August 11, 1992, as follow:

The Engineer's estimate for the project is $289,350. The Austin Subdivision
improvements will initially be paid 20% by the petitioners and 80% by the City.
The 80% will then be repaid to the City by the special assessment method over a
period of 10 years. The Holmquist Estates improvements will initially be paid
100% by the City because the area is over 35% developed. The 100% will then be
repaid to the City by the special assessment method over a period of 10 years.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Commission award the contract for Project No.
92-859 to Stevens Contractors, Inc. of Salina in the amount of $242,272.50.
