WHEREAS, we know that the YWCA of the U.S.A. serves millions of
girls, women and their families, it is their concern for
each of us we celebrate and,
WHEREAS, birthdays mark our journeys through the past, YWCA history
records daily concern for a better tomorrow and,
WHEREAS, we may not see all the YWCA volunteers and staff members
we know they have all walked the extra mile on our behalf
and,
WHEREAS, we have come to celebrate the YWCA of the U.S.A. on its
134th birthday, YWCA women invite us to join in their
common vision:
Peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people.
NOW, Therefore, I, Steven C. Ryan, Mayor of the City of Salina,
Kansas, hereby proclaim April 19-25, 1992 as National
YWCA week to salute the YWCA of the U.S.A., its 400
local Associations and all its members for their commit-
