Item
Consider resolution to set the public hearing on the advisability of public
street and utility improvements in Georgetown Addition.
Background
These improvements include the paving of Pheasant Lane from Marymount Road to
Fairdale Road, the paving of Beechwood Road from Village Lane to Pheasant Lane
and installation of a sanitary sewer main and a water main to serve properties
on Pheasant Lane from Marymount Road to Fairdale Road. The improvements were
requested by Ms. Elly Ritter, who owns approximately 35 percent of the proposed
benefit district by area. If approved, Ms. Ritter's properties would pay for
over 70 percent of the costs of the improvements.
Ms. Ritter originally proposed to petition for the Pheasant Lane improvements
only, because she would represent the majority ownership of that benefit
district. Upon review, city staff recommended that the Beechwood Road
connecting link be constructed simultaneously in the interest of continuity of
the transportation system as well as the economy of construction. A public
forum was conducted for the property owners on Village Lane on Thursday, October
28, 1993, and no protests were heard.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the resolution to set Monday,
December 13, 1993, as the date for the public hearing and direct the City Clerk
to publish the appropriate notice of the hearing.
