AGENDA SECTION: ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: APPROVED FOR NO. 6 AGENDA: CITY MANAGER ITEM NO. 2 BY: Dennis Kissinger BY: ~ Item: Resolution Number 00-5617 establishing the procedure for appointment of a Local Freedom of Information Officer for the City of Salina, and providing for the officer's duties. Background: A new Kansas state law went into effect July 1st making a number of changes in the Kansas Open Records Act. One of the new requirements is for each public agency to appoint its own F.O.I. Officer. This resolution is adapted from a model provided by the League of Kansas Municipalities. Assistant City Manager, Jason Gage, is the staff member appointed to perform those functions for the City of Salina. This week Mr. Gage will be attending some training on the Act's requirements. This training is provided by the League. Recommendation Approve Resolution Number 00-5617.
