4.1 EMS Week EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK
May 23-29, 1993
WHEREAS, the emergency medical services is a vital public
service; and
WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically im-
proves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience
sudden illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, emergency medical service teams consist of emergen-
cy physicians, nurses, technicians, paramedics, educators and
administrators; and
WHEREAS, emergency medicine has been established as a medi-
cal speciality, with the emergency medical team ready to provide
lifesaving care to those in need at any time, day or night; and
W~EREAS, the people of Salina, Kansas benefit daily from the
knowledge and skill of these highly trained individuals; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the
accomplishments of emergency medical service providers;
Now, therefore, I, Peter Brungardt, Mayor of the City of
Salina, Kansas, in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim
the week of May 23-29, 1993 as EMERGENCY MEDICAL WEEK in the City
of Salina, and do call upon all citizens to learn about injury
prevention and how to respond correctly in a medical emergency;
