4.4 Law Day PROCLAMATION
WHE~, May 1st is Law Day U.S.A. in the United States of America, and
WHERE, AS, the United States of America has been the citadel of individual liberty and
a beacon of hope and opportunity for more than 200 years to many millions who have sought
our shores, and
WHE~, the foundation of individual freedom and liberty is the body of law that
governs us, and
I~tE~ the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights are
the heart of that body of law, which guarantees us many freedoms-- including freedom of
religious belief, freedom to have and hold property inviolate, freedom of assembly, freedom of
speech, freedom of press, freedom of petition, and due process of the law among others, and
Brt~RE~$, this year marks the 36th annual observance of Law Day, and the Congress
of the United States and the President by official proclamation have set aside May 1 as a special
day for recognition of the place of law in American life;

Kansas, do hereby designate May 1, 1993, as Law Day U.S.A. and call upon all citizens,
schools, businesses, clubs, and the news media to commemorate the role of law in our lives.
