82-3592 Request Levy Sales TaxI RESOLUTION NO. 82-35192- A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF SALINE COUNTY, KANSAS, TO SUBMIT TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE COUNTY OF SALINE THE PROPOSITION OF LEVYING A ONE PERCENT (1".0%) COUNTYWIDE RETAILERS' SALES TAX IN SALINE COUNTY. WHEREAS,. K .,S A_ 1981 Supp. 12-187 et seq., as amended, authorizes the Board of County Commissioners of the County to sub- mit to the qualified electors of the County the question of levying a retailers' sales tax to be collected by the State Department of Revenue with the revenue therefrom returned and distributed as pro= vided by law within this County, and WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City of Salina has deter- mined that additional revenue is needed to provide an adequate level of public services within the City. BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS: Sec. 1. That the Board.of County Commissioners of Saline County, Kansas, submit to the qualified electors of Saline County, the question of levying a countywide retailers' sales tax in the amount of one percent (1.0%) in Saline County, as authorized by K.S.A. 1981 Supp..12-187 et seq., as amended. Sec. 2. That the Board of County Commissioners be and hereby is requested to submit such question to the electors at an election to be held on the 3rd day of August, 1982,.with such tax to be effective, if approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon, on the first day of November, 1982. Sec. 3. That the City Clerk be instructed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of County Commis- sioners and the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas. Passed and approved by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas, by not less than two-thirds (2/3) vote of the membership, this 14th ATTEST: City Clerk day of June , 1982. r r�
