Report on bids received for 2002 Computer Technology Department computer and monitor purchases.
Background:
The City's Computer Technology Department currently provides services to Saline County. This includes
facilitating the purchase of new equipment for the County. In the last few years, the City has piggybacked
on the County's formal bid policy to accommodate the purchasing policy for both parties. This has worked
well for both parties and insured competitive bidding.
The 2002 ComputerslTechnology Program sub-CIP includes a total of $223,750 for user department
technology needs. On March 25, 2002, the County opened bids for personal computers and monitors.
The results are as follows:
Computers & Accessories, Shawnee Mission
Envision, Salina
Great Plains, Marion
Integrated Solutions Group, Salina
Nextech, Hays
Com ark, Hanover Park, I L

$137.00
$145.83
$142.68
The bid by Great Plains did not meet the product specifications. They did not provide the equipment
components as requested. Computers & Accessories provided the lowest technology equipment bids that
fully met component specifications. Staff has thoroughly tested the equipment proposed by this vendor
and is very satisfied with the performance results. For this purchase round, Staff would like to purchase
71 personal computers and 40 monitors at the unit price of $795.70 and $134.00 respectively. This is a
total of $61,854.70 for this round.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends the City Commission provide authorization to purchase personal computers in the unit
amount of $795.70 and monitors in the unit amount of $134.00 from Computers & Accessories.
