First Amendment
to
Legal Defense Services Agreement
Introduction
This First Amendment to Indigent Counsel Agreement ("First Amendment") made and entered
into this 9th day of April, 2007, by and between the City of Salina, Kansas, a municipal
corporation, (hereinafter called "City") and Kansas Legal Services (hereinafter called
"Attorney"), by which the parties amend the specified subsection of the Legal Defense Services
Agreement between the parties dated April!, 2006 (the "Agreement") as follows:

SECTION ONE
PURPOSE OF CONTRACT
City has established a three-person panel to provide legal defense services to defendants
deemed indigent by the Municipal Judge. Kansas Legal Services shall designate Attorney,
subject to pre-approval by the City Manager, to serve as one of the panelists. City retains
Attorney to defend and represent indigent defendants in the Salina, Kansas, Municipal Court in
cases which are filed and assigned on a rotational basis during the term of the contract. Attorney
shall also represent such defendants in any appeals from convictions in the Salina, Kansas,
Municipal Court so long as such defendants remain indigent and eligible for such services.
Attorney shall provide representation in all cases assigned until the case is concluded, even if this
requires representation past contract term. No additional compensation will be paid.
