Consider two change orders for window caulking and painting at the
Smoky Hill Museum.
Information
Restoration and Waterproofing Contractors, Inc., is currently
under contract for repointing the exterior wall joints at the
Smoky Hill Museum for the sum of $16,205. During completion of
this work, it was discovered that exterior caulking is missing
around window frames, glazing around the panes is missing in
several locations and the metal frames have rusted and need to be
cleaned and repainted. This condition allows rain to run down
interior walls and heated and cooled air to escape. It is not
known when the windows were last caulked, glazed or painted. It
also appears that some cost savings would be realized due to the
scaffolding already being in place for the previously approved
repointing. The proposed cost is $18,162.00 and the work would be
completed in about 3 weeks. Funding would be from the 1994
Building and Facilities budget within the CIP.
Recommended Action
Authorize the City Manager to execute two change orders with
Restoration and Waterproofing Contractors, Inc., for window
caulking and painting on the Smoky Hill Museum in the amount of
$18,162.00.
