Commissioner Beggs requested an update on the wetlands issue with the river dredging project.
Shawn O'Leary said that the City is still waiting on a response from the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers for three locations within the river that Fish and Wildlife Service determined had
wetland characteristics,
Commissioner Divine requested a clarification on the Wastewater Treatment Plan costs as
represented in the capital projects update. Don Hoffprovided clarification.
Commissioner Maxwell discussed her budget request for a Municipal Court rehabilitation
coordinator type position. The Assistant City Manager said that the Court Services Coordinator
presents clients with treatment options available locally, but that the case management approach
seems more appropriate for the DistriCt Court level. The Mayor suggested monitoring: the
situation through the fail.
REQUESTS OF STAFF - Study Session or City Commission meeting
· Report on benefits as a percentage of salary for City positions. (Beggs)
· Include names and addresses in ordinance of those being specially assessed for nuisance
violations. (Divine)
· Address a bindweed problem on Fourth Street in railroad right-of-way between Cloud and
Republic. (Maxwell)
· Including an article in the Salina Citizen newsletter about the number of new subdivisions
built in the City. (Divine)
· Need a sign to denote change from one-way to two-way on Pacific Street travelling west
from Ninth Street. (Divine)
